Dr. Ines Tomašek
Ines Tomašek is an interdisciplinary researcher with expertise in volcanology, particle toxicology and environmental chemistry, and more than ten years of experience with multidisciplinary projects. She is a CNRS researcher at the Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (LMV) and Institut Génétique, Reproduction et Développement (iGReD) of the Universite Clermont Auvergne (UCA), France, working on the health hazards of geogenic pollutants such as volcanic ash and desert dust.
Following initial training as a medical laboratory technician, Ines studied geology at the University of Zagreb (Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering), Croatia, after which she pursued a PhD in Earth Sciences at Durham University, United Kingdom. Her PhD project (Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN fellowship) allowed her to acquire and apply multidisciplinary techniques to study the health hazard of volcanic emissions, which she continued to develop during her former postdoctoral appointments at UCA and Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium.
