Dr Patrick Kirita Gevera
Patrick Kirita Gevera is a geologist by training with specialisation on determining the movement of geogenic contaminants from the geological sources, through pathways including soil, groundwater, air, into the human body through oral or dermal pathways and their health implications. His main research focus at the moment is determining fluoride contamination in drinking water and food crops in different geological provinces in Kenya and developing sustainable defluoridation materials, using clay-based and geopolymer-based materials, that can be used in rural regions of Africa. As a lecturer, Patrick is involved in teaching BSc Geology and MSc in Geothermal Energy Technology. In addition, Patrick is also involved in research and teaching on the sustainable exploration and production of geothermal energy in the Kenyan Rift Valley
