IMGA Working Group on GeoHealth
The IMGA Working Group on GeoHealth has been officially approved by the IMGA Executive Committee on November 22, 2024. This Working Group aims to establish an international cooperation and exchange platform for GeoHealth surveys and applications.
The primary objectives of the GeoHealth Working Group are to:
- Conduct international comparative studies on GeoHealth, establish international technical standards for GeoHealth surveys, and improve the technical system of GeoHealth.
- Develop a global “one map” for GeoHealth, establish global geochemical baseline and basic data databases for key geological factors related to human health, and provide an information platform and data foundation for global comparative studies on GeoHealth.
- Promote cooperative implementation of GeoHealth survey projects in typical countries and regions, facilitate the international promotion and application of survey techniques and methods, and enhance the health of local populations.
- Organize international symposia on GeoHealth, strengthen international publicity and science popularization, and disseminate the concept of GeoHealth.
- Conduct training in GeoHealth survey and application techniques, recruit members dedicated to GeoHealth, and cultivate international talent and teams for research and surveys in GeoHealth.
The GeoHealth Working Group currently consists of a Chairman, three Co-Chairmen, and over ten experts from three countries. The Chairman is the Senior Research Scientist Dawen Liu from the National Research Center for Geoanalysis of China Geological Survey. The Working Group has established a secretariat, hosted by the National Research Center for Geoanalysis, to handle daily affairs and international liaison.
